UNCSA’s program for high-school-age musicians is a unique educational program designed to prepare students for collegiate study. Individual study with artist faculty and interaction with college students in masterclasses, performance hour, and ensembles expands the student’s artistic sphere beyond the typical high school experience.
For information, visit the high school academic program page.
The High School Music curriculum emphasizes the development of fundamental technical and artistic skills to support unlimited future growth. Students receive a weekly private lesson in their major area, and develop performance skills before audiences of their peers in weekly masterclasses and performance hour. Students are placed in large ensembles and chamber music as appropriate to their instrument and individual level. 11th- and 12th-grade students enhance their college preparation with courses in basic musicianship, aural skills, and music literature.
North Carolina students accepted into the high school program attend UNCSA with tuition, room and board, and fees fully paid. Out-of-state students seeking scholarships should contact the School of Music for information.
